Things are looking up already. My husband is in good health again, following emergency heart surgery last October. My mother is in recovery from her health scare. We both have full-time jobs and are saving up to move back out on our own again, hopefully in March. We're more than grateful for the support of my in-laws in giving us a place to stay until we're back on our feet, but no one over fifty really wants to live with the 'rents indefinitely.
I don't do new year resolutions, mostly because failing them makes me miserable and guilt-riddled. I do have some goals this year, though, which is a totally different thing. My writing goals are the same as always: to keep writing and submitting. Writing has been difficult in the circumstances of the last few months, but not impossible, and I've been snatching whatever time I can. Submitting is a long, slow process, but I'm persevering.
2014 is going to be a good year. I've decided.
